Lissa Schneckenburger Band
Lissa Schneckenburger band includes a star powered all female cast of musicians who Lissa hired to record her compositions for her latest Falling Forward album (recorded in December of 2022). The ensemble includes fiddling producer Katie McNally, pianist Rachel Aucoin, bass player Mali Obomsawin, cellist Natalie Haas, as well as accordion player Karen Tweed.
Halali
The founding members of Halali — Hanneke Cassel, Laura Cortese, and Lissa Schneckenburger — hail from extreme corners of the United States, but met in California at Alasdair Fraser’s Valley Of The Moon Scottish Fiddle School when they were teenagers. They formed a friendship that lasted until they relocated to Boston, where they attended music school. Each fiddler brings her distinct style to the band, but all are influenced by a common group of folk heroes in traditional genres such as Scottish, Irish, Quebecois, Old Time (Appalachian), Cape Breton, and Scandinavian. Flynn Cohen expertly rounds out the group on guitar.
Featuring musicians: Hanneke Cassel (fiddle, piano), Laura Cortese (fiddle, vocals). Lissa Schneckenburger (fiddle, vocals), Flynn Cohen (guitar).
Phantom Power
Phantom Power, Bruce Rosen and Lissa Schneckenburger’s band, is a high energy contradance band, based in Boston, Massachusetts. They play traditional New England fiddle repertoire for today’s contemporary dance crowds. Phantom Power has never failed to delight and excite its audiences.
Phantom Power formed while Bruce and Lissa were on tour in CA in November, 2001. Since then they have been playing dances together wherever and whenever they can. So far their growing list of appearances includes Echo Summit (CA), Pinewoods (MA), Camp DAMP (Juneau, AK), the Ralph Page Legacy Weekend (Durham, NH), the Dandelion Romp (Oberlin, OH), the Silkeborg Dance Weekend (Denmark), the Christmas Country Dance School (Berea, KY), and the Fiddling Frog Weekend (Pasadena, CA), as well as regular contradances throughout New England and beyond.
They completed work on their debut, self-titled CD, in May, 2003. The CD was reviewed in the Fall, 2003, issue of the Country Dance and Song Society News, which wrote “Lissa’s sparkling, authoritative fiddle and Bruce’s imaginative and sensitive accompaniment are a great combination.” Caller Sue Rosen says “Phantom Power gives you dance music at its finest. Their playing lifts your spirits and your feet.”
